So you want a water feature for your garden but you don’t have the money and the time to do so? Well, this little DIY will cost only $30 and it’s very easy to make too. All you need are: fountain pump (preferably, a solar-powered one), a water-tight plastic storage container such as those made by Rubbermaid, some flat concrete pavers, rocks of various sizes, both small and large, and a plant (such as water grass) that will thrive in water.
First, you should determine where you want to put your water feature. Once you determined where you want to put it, place the container there by grabbing a shovel and digging a place deep enough for the container to fit. The sides should be covered by the ground. Make sure the container is fitted nicely in the hole.
Second, add several large rocks inside the container to weigh it down. Place the water pump in the container. You can hide the container’s cord by digging a small trench or you can surround it with the plants you’re going to use.
Third, place the pavers on the side of the container so the holes are covered. You can place small stones in the gaps. You can then place whatever plans you want in the container, as well as small and colorful stones to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
After that, the water pump can start filling up the container. There are different types of pumps, with some creating small bubbles on the surface of the water.
Finally, clean the surrounding and enjoy your view.
